Rob Clayton may build houses by day but at night he is busy creating his own worlds.

The 29 year old bricklayer, from Otley, uses every spare minute to pursue his passion for sketching cartoons.

It is a hobby he has pursued for years but, apart from making some for family celebrations and other occasions, has not really taken any further.

Now his wife, Charlotte, has decided his most recent creations - four cartoon cards, inspired by the Tour de France's imminent arrival in Yorkshire and Otley - deserves a wider audience.

She said: "For as long as I have known Rob he has designed and sketched his own cartoons.

"Recently he has done some designs for the Tour de France and I thought it was such a shame that nobody else but me and his family would ever get to see them.

"Last Christmas he designed and printed his own T-shirts for friends at work and his workmates loved the cartoons.

"I contacted the paper because I'm hoping someone might see one of his Tour designs and be interested in using it in some way."

Rob said: "For me I just love to do it, if I get ideas i sketch them in my own style of cartoon or if someone else gives me an idea I'll sketch that.

"It is time consuming and I don't really have a great deal of spare time with work and my wife and daughter, but I like to do a few hours on an evening and at weekends."Between family time I love to draw cartoons of anything and everything and I suppose my dream job would be to design cartoons for people.

"I didn't really do my Tour sketches for anyone in particular - I just saw a lot of advertising for it with no real humour, and thought I could do something like that.
