TRAIN operator Grand Central, which runs direct services between Bradford and London, has achieved high customer satisfaction ratings, new figures show .

The Spring 2014 National Rail Passenger Survey shows that 94 per cent of Grand Central passengers were either 'satisfied' or 'very satisfied' with its operating, which include four daily services between Bradford and King's Cross. Findings by passenger Focus showed that passengers were particularly satisfied with value for money tickets, the helpfulness and attitude of staff and the extra legroom available as standard .

Richard McClean, Grand Central managing director , said: “We are pleased that our passengers are satisfied with Grand Central’s services and are particularly thrilled that customers have rated us as the best for value for money and for our handling of delays.

“Following previous feedback, we have made significant improvements to how we handle delays, including introducing a new Twitter feed and making a new social media team available 6am-10pm to ensure that whenever our passengers need us, we're there to advise them.

Mr McClean said the company was aware there were more areas for improvement. Grand Central, part of the Arriva group, had expanded its station ambassador programme through which volunteers man unstaffed stations on Sundays, including at Brighouse.
