TRAINEE teachers are being put through their paces at South Craven School.
The 10 School Direct trainees are learning to teach subjects such as English, history, chemistry and PE. South Craven is part of a training scheme called Pinnacle Partnership, which also includes Keighley's Oakbank, as well as other schools in Bradford, Airedale and Wharfedale.
A spokesman for the scheme said: "The trainees will complete their training in two of the Pinnacle Partnership schools over the next year to become qualified teachers, hopefully teaching in our local schools.
"School Direct is an exciting new venture where schools take more control of trainee selection and training to meet their needs.
"While all schools in Pinnacle have extensive experience training successful teachers, School Direct marks an exciting new venture to build a local model, training outstanding teachers in line with our schools' needs."
