TWO members of a gang involved in heroin, crack cocaine and cocaine with a street value of more than £5.5 million have been found guilty of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

A flat in Lister Court, Cunliffe Road, Manningham was raided by police on February 12 last year where a haul of 29.8 kilograms of heroin, at varying levels of purity, was found, alongside 78 grams of cocaine and £116,000 of crack cocaine.

Gang members Jamal Mahroof, 23, of Karam Close, Barkerend, Bradford, and Naveed Ahmed, 31, of Byron Street, Barkerend, were both found guilty of conspiracy to supply class A drugs at Bradford Crown Court today.

They were both convicted on unanimous verdicts by the jury which had deliberated for more than a day.

Samir Ali, 22, of Maidstone Street, Bradford Moor, Hamayan Nawaz, 24, of Carrington Street, Bradford Moor, Mohammed Masood Aslam, 26, of Ederoyd Mount, Pudsey, Mohammed Azam Yaqoob, 45, of Dewsbury and Mohammed Khan, of Manchester, have all pleaded guilty to the charge at an earlier hearing.

They will all be sentenced with the other three defendants.

Bilal Mulla, 29, of Shann Street, Frizinghall, was found not guilty by the jury on the direction of Judge Peter Benson at the close of the prosecution case on June 11.

The ninth man, Mohammed Dawood Aslam, 35, of Hudson View, Wyke, has a police warrant out for his arrest after he failed to attend the trial.

A date, where all of the defendants will be sentenced, has yet to be fixed.

Judge Benson told Mahroof and Ahmed this was a "very substantial conspiracy to supply drugs" and they could expect a lengthy custodial sentence.

The trial previously heard a police surveillance operation tracking the gang and their mobile phone activity began on January 29 last year.

The gang were tracked around a variety of locations including Bradford, Harrogate, Barnsley and Manchester.

They also found visits to the Lister Road flat and recorded shopping trips to buy food mixers and plastic containers.

The operation continued until February 12 when Aslam, Ahmed, Nawaz and Ali were arrested by officers at the scene. The other men were arrested at later dates.

Police are still looking for more information on the whereabouts of Mohammed Dawood Aslam.

Anyone who can help them with their enquiries is urged to call the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
