POLICE are continuing to investigate the circumstances of a road accident which cost the life of a six-year-old Bradford girl.

Lilly Davies died in hospital hours after she was struck by a Land Rover 4x4 as she crossed Beacon Road, Wibsey, last Thursday morning.

Tributes still lie at the scene of the tragedy at the junction of Beacon Road and Beacon Place.

Lilly had been walking with her mum on her way to her granddad's home before going to school.

She sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Leeds Royal Infirmary by air ambulance, but doctors were unable to save her.

The accident happened only a short distance from Lilly's home. She and her mum Jenna Hatfield, who is still too upset to speak, had moved into Beacon Place about three months ago.

Funeral arrangements are still being made.

The driver of the car, a Land Rover Freelander, stopped at the scene.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact officers on 101.
