A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries to both legs after being hit by a car.
The accident happened in Woodhead Road, Horton Grange, Bradford, shortly after noon on Saturday.
The ambulance service was called, who in turn called the police. The car, a Fiat 500, had stopped at the scene, police said.
Officers closed the road for several hours as they investigated the scene.
The injured man, who is believed to be in his 60s, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
Muhammad Azam, of Horton Grange Residents' Association, said while they didn't yet know what the circumstances were behind the accident, it was time to look at road safety there.
He said: "It's a fairly safe road, but we need to look and see if we can make it safer."
He said problems in the area included cars parking badly, especially around nearby shops as customers nipped in to do their shopping.
