A 41-year-old man is on trial at Bradford Crown Court accused of raping two young girls and taking indecent pictures of one of them.

Paul Wilkinson is alleged to have undressed the ten-year-old children and shown one of them a pornographic video while sexually abusing her.

Wilkinson, of Broadstone Way, Holme Wood, Bradford, denies six charges, including two of rape, one of attempted rape, two of sexual assault and one of taking indecent photographs of a child.

Ian Howard, prosecuting, told the jury today that one of Wilkinson's alleged victims was aged nine or ten at the time and the second girl was ten years old.

Mr Howard said the defendant told the first girl to get into bed with him at an address in the Bradford area.

He played a pornographic video as he took off her clothes, raped her, sexually assaulted her and tried to rape her again.

The second girl says she was raped and sexually assaulted by Wilkinson in bed at another house in the city several years later.

Mr Howard said the police were alerted last year after the older girl, who had not told anyone what had happened to her, spoke to the younger girl about Wilkinson.

The jury heard that a doctor, who will give evidence in the case, examined both of the girls and found medical signs that could be consistent with their allegations of sexual abuse.

Mr Howard said the first girl told the police that Wilkinson took indecent photographs of her, although no such images had been found on his phone or computer.

Wilkinson chose not to answer questions put to him by the police after he was arrested, the trial was told.

The judge, Neil Davey QC, told the jury the proceedings would conclude this week.

The trial continues.
