People living in Baildon are being asked to help shape the town’s future.

The town council is updating the Baildon Plan and wants people to have their say on what the priorities should be.

Chairman Chris Flecknoe said: “The Baildon Plan was put together four years ago after extensive consultations with residents and it lists those things which local residents then felt were particularly important for the town council and other service-providers and partners to concentrate on.

“To give examples of how a priority in the Baildon Plan has influenced the work of the town council, residents told us that they wanted to see improvements to some of our playgrounds and additional sporting facilities – so the town council has allocated funds, and attracted external funds, to completely refurbish Southcliffe Drive playground and to add new equipment on the play area at Dewhirst Road.

“The town council has also supported a variety of sports clubs and installed a trim trail for all ages at Ferniehurst Dell.

“The Baildon Plan also recorded that residents wanted there to be additional youth work and activity for older people, and so the town council has funded additional youth work and a support club for older, vulnerable people – Baildon Buddies – in partnership with Hale, the local healthy living project, over the past two years.

“Baildon is a brilliant place to live, but there are always things that can be done to make it even better.

“We are asking residents, once again, to take this opportunity to tell us what issues, facilities and activities they consider most important for the future. These views will be collated and the results published and incorporated into an updated Baildon Plan.”
