Top magician Dynamo was back in his home city of Bradford yesterday as he filmed tricks for the fourth series of his hit TV show.

The 31-year-old vmade a nostalgic visit to the former Odeon cinema as part of filming for Dynamo: Magician Impossible.

The international star was also in Bradford on Sunday, performing tricks for people in City Park as part of the TV programme, which will air in September.

His manager, Dan Albion, said of Dynamo’s decision to film in Bradford: “He just fancied coming back to his hometown.”

The illusionist’s visit to the Odeon came after he asked Bradford Council if he could have a look around. His production crew filmed the internal tour.

Prior to the site visit, Dynamo met Mark Nicholson and Matt Shaw, of the Bradford Odeon Rescue Group (BORG). The group’s long-standing campaign to try to save the building had been explained to him by the Council, said a BORG spokesman.

Dynamo, real name Steven Frayne, said: “I think the Odeon should definitely be saved.

“It’s kind of a landmark in Bradford and there’s so many childhood memories for me. I used to go to the cinema here so to see it go would be a sad thing. This is one building I don’t want to disappear.”

BORG also asked Dynamo his opinion of the redevelopment plans for the Odeon. He said: “From what I hear it’s going to be a big concert venue, which is pretty awesome. I reckon that would drive a lot of traffic to Bradford, you know, get some big acts. Maybe I’ll come here and perform at one point, who knows?”

Dynamo’s producer, who had previously visited the Odeon’s interior to establish suitable filming locations, thanked BORG for its efforts and achievements in the campaign to save the building from demolition.

He said: “When Bradford Council showed me around the last time I was here they told me all about the work BORG have done for this building. I hope it can be saved.”

Dynamo’s production team was also believed to be considering Lister Park as a filming location for the TV show
