Charity Christians Against Poverty, set up by John Kirkby,has won a prestigious national award for encouraging best practice among debt collectors.

The organisation scooped the Contribution to the UK Credit Industry award at a ceremony in London on Thursday.

Head of external affairs Phill Holdsworth and director of debt management and creditor relations Dawn Stobart received the accolade on behalf of the Bradford-based head office team and its 252 debt centres across the UK.

Mr Holdsworth said: “We’re delighted that Credit Today chose to recognise the behind-the-scenes work we do to inform and encourage the credit industry to follow positive working practices.

“We have always chosen to work with the credit industry because we recognise that small changes in processes can make a huge impact for vulnerable people coping with debt problems.”

CAP regularly holds Creditor Open Days at the charity’s Jubilee Mill headquarters in Bradford.
