VIDEO: Bradford bus crash inspires ride for air ambulance
Updated 9:54am Thursday 1st May 2014 in News
Bus inspector Trevor Haigh might be more familiar with diesel power at work, but he is relying on pedal power to see him through a coast-to-coast cycle ride to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Mr Haigh is expecting to break the £1,000 barrier with the challenge, which would trigger a payment of a further £1,000 from First Bradford for his ride this week.
He has completed the challenge previously and chose the air ambulance as this year’s charity in recognition of the assistance they gave to bus driver Lucasz Mokos after his leg was speared by a metal railing in a crash in Manchester Road, Bradford, on Boxing Day last year.
The quick intervention of the airborne paramedics helped to save the 28-year-old from far more serious consequences, though he is still recovering from his injuries.
