Volunteers pitched in to clean up a stretch of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal yesterday.
Staff at Marks & Spencer joined waterways charity the Canal and River Trust in Apperley Bridge as part of a national campaign run by the retailer.
This year, as part of the M&S Big Beach Clean-up, 41 canal locations will also be tackled.
“Our Big Beach Clean-up 2013 exceeded all expectations and made a significant impact on local communities,” said Sacha Berendji, director of retail at Marks & Spencer.
“It’s a fun, outdoor activity and I’m confident we can go one step further and surpass last year’s litter haul.”
