A man who barricaded himself inside a house for more than 12 hours finally left at 11.30pm last night.
The man, said to be in his early 20s, had locked himself inside the terraced house and blocked windows and doors with planks of wood.
Police said they were called at 9.50am to Windhill to a “concern for welfare report”.
Trained officers spent much of the day and evening talking to the man through an open window.
This morning a police spokesman said the man left the house, in Park Road, at 11.28pm.
He was detained and taken into care under the Mental Health Act.
Firefighters had been on standby after the man indicated he had petrol in the property.
