Part of the historic Leeds and Liverpool Canal will be cleared of any rubbish which could pollute the water and damage wildlife.
On Monday staff from Marks & Spencer will join national waterways charity the Canal and River Trust in Apperley Bridge to help with the clean-up.
The day is part of the retailer’s third ‘M&S Big Beach Clean-up’ which, for 2014, will also include 41 canal locations throughout England and Wales that are cared for by the Trust.
Chief Executive at the Canal and River Trust, Richard Parry, said: “Our canals are a 200 year-old national treasure that are enjoyed by millions of people each year. Litter and debris can be a real problem, polluting water, and harming wildlife.
“The event will build on the work that is done every day to keep the waterways in the best possible condition.
