A happy chappy from Ravenscliffe who “loves the camera” has been named winner of the Telegraph & Argus’ Happy Tots competition.

Addison-Lee O’Reilly Broad-bent came out top of one of one of the closest competitions in its 13-year history.

His parents said they were shocked but delighted with the news that their son won over hundreds of other entries in five age categories to be named overall winner.

The competition is in its 13th year and the T&A teamed up once again with the Kirkgate Shopping Centre in Bradford to give the overall winner £500 of shopping vouchers. The winners of each age group gets a framed print and a month play pass for Jungle at the Junction in Queensbury.

Addison-Lee, who is two and a half, attends the Gateway Nursery in Ravenscliffe.

In previous years hundreds of votes have separated the top few candidates, but this year just 80 made the difference between the top three, and Addison-Lee won by just 30 votes.

Mum Victoria said that although his family were over the moon with their son’s win, he wasn’t old enough to full appreciate it yet.

She said: “We couldn’t believe it when we heard he was the winner. We heard there was just 30 votes between him and the runner up. It was a huge shock.

“He loves the camera so he is dealing with all the attention really well, although he doesn’t really get what the fuss is about yet.”

When asked what they would spend the vouchers on, she said: “We haven’t really thought about it, we’ll probably just spoil him and his sisters.”

The winners for each age category were Rudy Skillings in the nought-six month category, Charlie Drake in the six to 12 month category, Saffa Khan in the one to two year old category, Addison Lee in the two to three year category and Daisy Angel Dunnachie in the three to five category. The winners will pick up framed prints next week.
