Learn to shimmy to Egyptian Blues at the 40th anniversary Day of Dance at Victoria Hall, Saltaire, on SaturdayAPR 26 with 40 day time workshops and a special evening event with three live bands all on one ticket.

The event usually attended by about 500 people has raised £250,000 over the years for good causes including Oxfam, Yorkshire CND and the Campaign Against the Arms Trade.

All the workshop tutors and bands give their time and skills free and all workshops are suitable for beginners.

Daytime workshops run in five timeslots through the day starting at 9.00am and finishing at 6.30pm.

Dance styles include salsa, swing-jive, ballroom, tango and lindy hop through to scottish country dance, belly dance, 5 Rhythms, Nia dance, circle dances and Irish Set dance.

New workshops this time include Baladi – Egyptian Blues and Andalusian Shawl Dance along with Shape Note Singing and Rumba Flamenca and new tutors for ceroc, swing-jive and salsa.

The evening event from 8pm – 11.30pm will include three live bands offering three rooms of dance – Ceilidh with the Polka Dots, Klezmer with the Klatsh and a Swing-Jive Party with the 309s.

There will also be the traditional Family Ceilidh from 5pm – 6.30pm especially for families and young children – party dresses encouraged.

Refreshments are on sale throughout the day until 6.30pm and the bar is open throughout the evening.
