A 58-year-old woman was last night charged with the murder of a man in Girlington, Bradford.

Miroslawa Dawidowicz was charged by detectives investigating the death of a man who was found with stab wounds at a house in Washington Street, Girlington, on Sunday.

She was detained in custody overnight to appear at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court this morning.

Two men who were arrested on Monday in connection with the death have been released without charge.

Detective Superintendent Mark Ridley, of Proactive Services (Crime), who is leading the investigation, said last night: “We have charged 58-year-old Miroslawa Dawidowicz, of Washington Street, Bradford, with the murder of a man on Sunday, April 21.

“She has been detained in custody to appear before Bradford Magistrates tomorrow morning.

“The deceased has yet to be formally identified but is believed to be a 59-year-old man who lived in the local area.

“Two men, aged 29 and 30, who were also arrested in connection with this investigation have been released without charge.” Police mounted a manhunt on Sunday shortly after the man’s death. Dawidowicz was in police custody from Sunday lunchtime. She was arrested at the house.

Officers and paramedics were called to the terraced house shortly before 12.30pm on Sunday where they found the badly injured man. Despite attempts to save him he died at the scene.

A white forensic tent was put up in the front garden as officers carried out a detailed search of the property and recorded photographic evidence.

Det Supt Ridley said the death was being treated as a domestic-related incident. Locals said the couple that lived at the house were old and believed to be Slovakian.

Some said they saw a woman being led away in handcuffs by police.
