Police are warning residents to be vigilant after an 85-year-old woman’s car was targeted in a burglary in Bradford.

A 13-year-old boy is accused of tricking his way into her home in Welbeck Rise in Great Horton, under the guise of asking for sponsorship money.

Hours later, shortly after midnight on April 5, a group of teenagers returned to the woman’s home and tried to steal her car from the garage. Neighbours alerted the police at 12.43am when the vehicle became jammed against a garden wall.

Two boys, aged 15 and 13, have been arrested and will now face youth court accused of burglary.

Sergeant Craig Stothers, of the Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We would ask all residents to be vigilant, particularly if someone calls at your house without an appointment.”
