Murder-probe detectives are hunting two men after a man died of stab wounds at a Bradford house.
A woman arrested at the scene on suspicion of the killing remained in custody today after what was believed to have started as a domestic incident.
Emergency services were called to the terraced house in Washington Street, Girlington, at 12.27pm yesterday to a report that a man had suffered serious injuries.
When officers and paramedics arrived they found the man had suffered what appeared to be stab wounds to his body.
Despite efforts to save him he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police set up a white tent in the front garden of the house as forensic investigators carried out a detailed examination of the scene.
Residents said after some initial activity at the house, a woman believed to be Slovakian and in her 50s, was led handcuffed into the back of a police van and driven away.
Later yesterday afternoon, uniformed officers were standing guard around the cordon sealing off the top of Washington Street with Duckworth Lane as detectives carried out door-to-door inquiries.
Forensic officers dressed in white protective suits and masks could be seen going in and out of the house and the tented area carrying bags and equipment.
Camera flashes could also be seen in the upstairs bedroom window as photographic evidence was gathered.
Detective Superintendent Mark Ridley, who is leading the investigation, said officers were hunting two men in connection with the incident. Both are believed to be Eastern European.
“Early inquiries are under way into this incident which is believed to be domestic-related,” said Det Supt Ridley last night.
“A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and we are appealing for information about two men police would like to speak to in connection with the incident.
“One is described as Eastern European and bald with a short beard wearing a dark red pullover, blue jeans, black shoes and a puffa jacket.
“The other is described as also Eastern European wearing black shoes, blue jeans and a black waist length jacket with a logo on the right arm to the elbow and on the left chest. He was also wearing a dark white baseball cap.”
Imran Khan, 29, who lives nearby, said: “We heard there had been some kind of fight, some kind of family row.
“It’s an old couple who live there, probably in their 50s. I think they’re Slovakian.
“I don’t think any children live there but I have seen someone visiting with a pram. We saw them (the police) take the woman in pink trousers away in the van. We heard the man had died.”
Another man, who works in a nearby barber’s shop, said he had seen police arrive in the middle of the morning and he too had seen the woman in handcuffs being put in the van .
Police have urged anyone who sees men matching the descriptions they have issued to contact police on 999 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
