Regional health chiefs have urged people in Bradford aged 60 or more to complete bowel cancer screening tests after it was revealed that last year across West Yorkshire, only 56 per cent of those eligible took part.

Testing kits are posted every two years to people aged between 60 and 69.

Dr Rona Daniels, screening and immunisation lead and public health consultant in West Yorkshire, said: “Bowel cancer can be present for a long time before any symptoms appear so it is important that people complete and return the test when it is sent to them.”
