A multiple sclerosis sufferer fulfilled his lifelong ambition when he took part in a Ferrari Drivers’ Dream Day experience.
Darren Peel’s dream of getting behind the wheel of a Ferrari became a reality at Elvington Airfield, near York.
The 48-year-old, who lives at Czajka Care Group’s Staveley Birkleas Nursing Home in Nab Wood, Shipley, enjoyed the day out after his carers and family joined forces.
Darren’s mother Celia Peel said: “Darren was diagnosed when he was just 26. He was serving as a mechanic in the Army at the time in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Regiment.
“After two years he was medically discharged and I became his carer for seven years, but when my husband was diagnosed with throat cancer he was unable to help me lift Darren at home so we decided to make the move to Staveley Birkleas.
“My husband passed away 18 months ago and it hit Darren hard, so I wanted to be able to give Darren something to look forward to.”
