Police are hunting a man following a “thuggish and cowardly” burglary in which a 62-year-old woman was punched.

The attack happened at the woman’s home on Rawdon Road, between Rawdon and Horsforth, on Wednesday, April 9.

A man broke in to the house shortly after 10.10am and began to search it, 40 minutes later the victim returned home and discovered him upstairs.

He punched her and fled, leaving her needing hospital treatment for facial injuries. He stole jewellery, including earrings, pendants and a necklace.

PC Sam Warburton said: “This was a serious incident in which a woman was assaulted in her own home in a cowardly and thuggish assault. Anyone who can identify the man in the e-fit or who has information about the incident is asked to contact me at Leeds District CID on 101.
