A Bradford cricket club has been bowled over by its share of a £17 million Sport England funding pot.
Great Horton Church Cricket Club, whose home ground is on Allerton Road, will receive £28,615 from the Inspired Facilities programme to completely refurbish their clubhouse.
The club, whose senior sides play in the Bradford Mutual SS Cricket League, runs six junior teams and wants to expand to include girls and disability sections.
They also want to branch out into other sports to host sessions in table tennis, martial arts, football and dance.
Taj Butt, club secretary, said: “This funding is vitally important for us to continue to increase participation, and gives us a chance to offer opportunities to a wider range of the community.”
Huggy’s Boxing Gym, based in Little Horton, also received £42,264 from the Inspired Facilities programme.
