Ten people accused of defrauding an elderly woman out of £1.6 million while acting as her carers have had their case committed to Bradford Crown Court by Skipton magistrates.
The eight women and two men face charges of conspiring together to defraud the woman from Cracoe near Skipton, who is in her 90s, by inflating wages while caring for her over a period of four years.
Two of the women face two additional charges of fraud by false representation by submitting a series of requests to a Keighley-based solicitor for payment for inflated wages and for work not carried out.
Alice Barker, 58, and Edward Barker, 56, both of Raglan Avenue, Keighley; Lisa Bell, 29 and Wendy Bell, 56, both of Greenside Lane, Cullingworth; Amanda Carroll, 43, and Christopher Carroll, 43, of Park Avenue, Shipley; Caron Gilbert, 32, of Red Holt Crescent, Keighley; Marsha Girvan, 42, of Bank, Oxenhope; Helen Banks, 42, of Howbeck Avenue, Riddlesden, and Linda Mynott, 59, of Garforth Road, Keighley, are all charged with conspiring together to defraud.
Wendy Bell and Amanda Carroll are also accused of committing fraud by making a series of false representations to Myron Handzij, of Turner and Wall Solicitors.
