A business manager in the Cancer Research Department at the University of Bradford is running the Leeds half marathon.
Stuart Nelson, 43, who last year completed the Hull, Leeds and York 10k runs, decided this year he would run his first Leeds half marathon on Sunday, May 11, for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
He is calling the challenge his “run for Iris” on behalf of his 18-month-old niece, who has been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
Her parents were not even aware they were carriers of the cystic fibrosis gene until they received the diagnosis. But the little girl is keeping well and managing her daily treatments.
Mr Nelson, of Woodhall Drive, Leeds, is hoping to raise £1,000.
