A rousing rendition of Fame, complete with fireworks and confetti, thrilled an enthusiastic audience in St George Hall as the 13th annual Bradford Schools Prom drew to a dramatic close last night.

More than 800 youngsters took to the prestigious stage over the two-night extravganza, organised by Bradford Council Arts and Music service.

Last night’s 260-strong primary school chorus was made up from children from Copthorne, Cullingworth Village, East Morton CE, Holybrook, Newby, Wibsey, St John’s CE, Thackley, and Woodside schools.

They shared the bill alongside performances from the St Bede’s Male Voice and ‘HANdSON’ choirs, the Bradford District Schools’ and Bradford Youth Orchestras, student-led band, Take 4 and 7/8, and the Punjabi Roots Bhangra group.

Felicity French, head of ensemble provision at the Arts and Music service, said: “It has been a fantastic evening, and really well received by the audience.

“The children have had a wonderful time, and all done themselves proud with their performances.

“This event is a celebration of the great music that goes in on Bradford schools every week of the year.

“We just give them an opportunity to showcase their talent in one of the city’s most beautiful venues.”
