Budding chefs from Merlin Top Academy at Guard House, Keighley, cooked up a treat during a visit to the town’s Oakbank School.

The year six pupils spent the morning learning how to make vegetarian lasagne and a potato and sweetcorn chowder.

Hannah Borkala, for Oakbank, said: “The aim of the session was to teach the children some basic cooking skills and how to work together as a team, and it also gave them the opportunity to experience secondary school.

“They all really enjoyed it – apart from the washing up – and were looking forward to taking what they had made home to eat for tea.”
