Emergency services are mystified about how a van driver crashed into a traffic island in the dead of night.
Police and firefighters were called out to Sticker Lane, Bradford, at 1.50am today, where a blue Ford Transit van had hit the island, which forms part of a pedestrian crossing.
Firefighters had to do nothing more than disconnect the vehicle’s battery, and the driver was found to be uninjured.
Bradford fire station firefighter Scott Smith said: “Somehow he managed to crash his van into the middle of the island.
“It was just one of those where you think, ‘How did he do that?’”
A police spokesman said officers attended but found there were no suspicious circumstances.
