Willow has been planted in Lund Park, Keighley, with the future aim of harvesting it.

People living around the park came together for the planting session with horticultural specialist Pippa Chapman.

Jo Horrox, of Lund Park Community Group, said some of the willow would be used to make dens and other structures. She added: “The idea is also that we will harvest the willow every year and make lanterns for our annual lantern parade.”

Pippa, of Steeton-based Those Plant People, also showed people how to plant vegetables, which they could take home to grow. The planting has been financed through the Community First fund.
