First published in News

Talent scouts were out and about in the city centre on Saturday in a bid to find Bradford's most photogenic faces.

They were scouring the city for potential entrants in this year's Bradford Modelsearch competition.

Now in its 13th year, the contest is run in conjunction with the Kirkgate Centre, the Telegraph & Argus and DK Model Agency.

The scouts will be in and around the Kirkgate Centre again on April 19, looking for people with the desire to model some of the hottest looks around.

If you miss the chance, you can still nominate yourself by submitting a photograph and completed entry form before the closing date of Sunday, April 27.

Forms are available from the Kirkgate Centre, or the Telegraph & Argus office on Hall Ings. Successful contestants will be invited onto the catwalk for heats in the Kirkgate Centre on Sunday, May 4, with the most promising going through to the competition finals on Sunday, May 18.

The expert panel of judges, who will choose eight winners overall, will feature represen-tatives from DK Model Agency, Modelsearch, previous winners, and retailers from the Kirkgate Centre.

Models in Bradford? Have you seen how some dress or not dress round here: bellies and bottoms hanging out with the added vigour of machined stretch marks. Didn't know size twenty plus with a burger in its mouth and a packet of fags was fashion: welcome to Bradford.

Wonder if they've been spotting in holmewood or ravenscliffe: umpa lumpa suburbs

A competition focused on vanity and the superficial to find an example to others of what they could look like if only they weren't a unique individual. Make everyone self conscious about their image and you can sell them all sorts to try and improve the situation. It's a billion pound industry. Just look at the big deal that was made by women of posting a selfie without makeup on for breast cancer awareness. Please though if you must have these sort of competitions select a winner with a healthy natural body type as using an anorexic rake as an example of what young girls should look like is ruining a lot of girl's self esteem when they can't achieve it and health when they try.

Oh My God. Aren't you two negative? You should seriously think about renaming yourselves. It is a positive thing. Everything in life is superficial and let's not get too deep. What is wrong with lightening up people's lives? I encouraged my friends' three daughters to go along, but alas they did not get out of bed!!!! Saturday and all that. Now there is another chance so I will actively by encouraging them. It is such a lovely thing to do. As for calling all Bradford Girls (which you actually did by stating Welcome To Bradford!!) oompa lumpas and branding them burger munchers!! Bradford is full of vibrant attractive people. The dull people are people like you. Lighten up and see it for what it is. It is not an attack on a modelling industry, it is an opportunity for people male and female to have a bit of fun. If they did by extreme chance get the opportunity to make money, well good for them. If they choose to be blinded into thinking such negative thoughts about themselves as you suggest, well let's hope they receive guidance. Such Fun. In fact I may enter ha ha!!! Bit too umpa lumpaish and I seldom eat burgers!!!!
