An inquest was due to resume today into the death of a popular teacher after a tragic accident in a supermarket car park.

Tracey Askham, 47, of Myers Close, Idle, suffered fatal injuries when she was loading shopping into her Mini Cooper when it was struck by another car at the Morrisons store in Five Lane Ends, Bradford, on August 21.

Mrs Askham died a week later at Leeds General Infirmary.

She was a much-respected member of staff Immanuel College in Thackley, where pupils had laid flowers in tribute to her outside the school after news broke of her death.

Last month, Mrs Askham was posthumously awarded Secondary Teacher of the Year award at The Bradford and District Schools Awards, after being nominated by colleagues and pupils. The awards were organised by the Telegraph & Argus supported by Bradford Council and the University of Bradford.
