The family of a missing Bradford University student will be in the city centre tomorrow to try to solve the mystery of his disappearance almost six weeks ago.

Aamir ‘Eric’ Qudeer, 21, a first year engineering student, was last seen on CCTV footage in Liverpool on Wednesday, February 26.

He had left his student accommodation on Great Horton Road earlier that day, and friends and his family have not heard from him since.

He travelled to Liverpool by train but he is not thought to have any links to Merseyside. Last weekend his family and friends took to the streets of Leeds with posters and flyers to raise awareness of the disappearance in Aamir’s home city of Leeds.

Tomorrow they plan to do the same in Bradford in the hope of jogging the memories of anyone who may have seen him in the past six weeks, and allowing anyone who has any information to speak to his increasingly worried family. And a third awareness event is being planned for Liverpool the following weekend.

During a police press conference last week his family made an emotional plea for his return, and police revealed that he was struggling with university before he went missing.

Aamir’s aunt, Abda Ali, said: “We think at this stage we haven’t had enough exposure so we’re running events in Bradford and Liverpool. We are hoping we can jog a few people’s memories. It is getting to a critical point now. We are trying to get these areas covered because there still hasn’t been much activity, there have been no signs of him. We have been told that six weeks is a massive milestone. There have been no signs of him and no real clues so it’s very worrying for the family.”

Detective Inspector Neil Benstead said: “We remain concerned for his welfare and are again appealing to him, or anyone who may have seen him to please make contact and reassure both us and his family that he is OK. Anyone with information or any possible sightings of Aamir can contact police on 101 or Missing People on 116000.”

The family will be setting up a stall outside the Kirkgate Centre from noon tomorrow.
