Councillors in Guiseley are looking forward to safety improvements to a busy junction in the town.
The ward councillors for the area used a full council meeting of Leeds City Council to highlight the need for improvements to the Station Hotel junction.
The junction of Oxford Road, Victoria Road and the A65 Otley Road is close to two schools.
Guiseley and Rawdon Councillor Pat Latty said: “We need to ensure that this junction is safe for the large number of pedestrians who cross it every day.
“The A65 is a very busy road, so we need to find a compromise that will boost safety whilst still allowing traffic to traverse this major junction. We are working with the Highways department to ensure that a suitable solution is found as soon as possible that meets the needs of local people.”
Fellow ward Councillor Paul Wadsworth added: “We received confirmation at Full Council that the money is in place to carry out the required work on the junction, and that this should start in the autumn.”
