People living in Otley will benefit from £4.9 million of government cash to help reduce energy bills.

Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland has welcomed the boost, which is part of the government’s Green Deal Communities Scheme.

It will be rolled out on a street-by-street basis to help residents in kick-start energy efficiency measures such as solid wall insulation and new heating systems.

Houses in the Westons area of Otley are amongst those to benefit.

Mr Mulholland said: “I am delighted that Leeds is to receive £4.9 million to help residents install energy efficiency home improvements which will help control their energy bills.

“Properties across Leeds North West are leaking hundreds of pounds every year through draughty windows and insufficient insulation.

"By installing energy saving improvements we can help thousands of hard pressed consumers save energy and lower their bills.”
