A book of poems written by users of a Bradford mental health charity was celebrated with song.
“Something on My Mind”, by Bradford Mindsongs, has been produced by Mind, and will be available to buy at its Manningham base. Councillor Mike Gibbons (Con, Ilkley) joined staff and members of the charity to promote the book, before volunteer and former opera singer David Owen-Lewis entertained the group with a range of sing-along tunes. Mike Young, chairman of Mind in Bradford, said the project had been a source of great pride and self-confidence for those involved.
“People who suffer from mental ill-health often find it helps to express themselves in poetry,” he said. “The poems are creative, interesting, often humorous and sometimes challenging.
“It is a genuine book by people expressing their feelings.”
