Three teams from St Mary’s School showed off local talent when they took part in the Leeds Schools Dance Competition at Temple Moor High School.

Overall winners of the annual competition – organised by the Leeds North West School Sport Partnership – was the Key Stage 4 team from then Menston school.

A school team from Key Stage 3 took third place, and another Key Stage 3 team narrowly missed out on being placed.

The competition has now been running for six years. Six schools performed and provided a diverse style of performances.

The event was judged by international dance presenter, Jo Parry, Dance Curriculum Leader at Leeds City College. Both judges were extremely impressed with the high standard from all the schools.

The St. Mary’s KS4 Team were overall winners for the second year running.

PE Teacher at St. Mary’s, Amanda Murphy, who accompanied the teams to the competition said: “All of the St. Mary's Dancers have worked really hard on their performances and were amazing to watch in the competition. A special congratulations should go the KS4 team who have won this competition for the second year running – well done girls.”
