A man and a woman appeared in court yesterday charged with attempted murder.

John Wilson, 36, of no fixed address, and Dee Metcalfe, 29, of Fieldhurst Court, Bierley, Bradford, faced the charge when they appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court.

They are jointly charged with attempting to murder Jordan Conroy on March 29 this year at Fieldhead Court.

Burly, balding and bearded Wilson, who was wearing a black leather jacket with a painted skull on the back, was remanded in custody.

Solicitor Lisa Julian, representing him, made no application for bail.

Metcalfe, with dyed blonde hair and wearing a black leather jacket and white round-neck top, wept in the secure dock throughout the hearing.

Prosecutor Nadine Clough applied for her to be remanded in custody, but her solicitor, Reg Le Pla, made an application for bail on her behalf.

Miss Clough said police were contacted by Bradford Royal Infirmary, at 3.40am on Saturday, after the complainant was admitted to the accident and emergency department with a stab wound to the neck.

Both defendants were arrested at the scene of the alleged assault.

Miss Clough said the complainant suffered a two-centimetre-deep wound to his neck which would require stitching, and possibly plastic surgery.

Mr Le Pla said Metcalfe denied making comments attributed to her.

After retiring to consider the application, the Bench decided to remand Metcalfe in custody.

Both defendants will next appear at Bradford Crown Court on Monday, April 14.
