Bradford’s highways boss is trying to work out why there has been an unprecedented number of faulty street lamps this winter.
The problem was raised by Councillor Howard Middleton (Lib Dem, Bolton ) at last night’s full Council meeting. He asked Councillor Val Slater, Labour’s executive member for highways, why it was taking more than four weeks to fix broken street lights.
In response, Coun Slater said: “Since October, we have received unprecedented volumes of street lighting faults which have created a backlog. “At its worst, this was about 900 outstanding repairs. Despite working weekends, it has taken a long time to get the work back on track.”
