A nurse has taken second place in a national competition.

Airedale Hospital urology specialist Nona Toothill was among three finalists in the Urology Nurse of the Year category of the British Journal of Nursing Awards, and attended a presentation ceremony in London last Friday.

She said: “It was a great night, and I’m very happy.

“There was stiff competition for the award.”

Mrs Toothill, 45, from Cowling, runs teaching sessions for nurses in the hospital and for district nursing staff.

She also works closely with staff in nursing and residential homes and supports urologists in clinics, where patients with prostate problems are assessed and offered help and advice.
