Police thwarted burglars who targeted a house in Manningham, Bradford, while the owner was in hospital.

Two men smashed a window to get into the property, but set off an alarm.

Officers raced to the house and found items outside ready to be taken away. The two men were arrested.

Police said the owner of the house is in hospital.

The burglary was one of six on homes in the Manningham area between March 16 and Saturday, say police.

Jewellery was taken in one of the other burglaries after raiders forced their way in through a rear window while the owners were on holiday.

Nothing was taken in the other four raids.

The police figures for the period also revealed one burglary at an unoccupied property where two boilers were stolen.

Six vehicles were broken into, with a mobile phone, registration plates, money, and speakers stolen.

A car was taken from outside a house overnight.
