A tall thug with puffy lips who was armed with a pair of scissors is being hunted by police after trying to rob a 12-year-old Bingley schoolboy.

The attempted robbery happened when the victim was walking along Keighley Road. The boy noticed a very tall, hooded man who was on the same side of the road as him, but on the other side of a wall. As the boy approached it is alleged that a man jumped over a wall and demanded money. The man then showed the boy a pair of scissors.

The boy ran, followed by the man but escaped and no money was stolen during the incident. Detective Inspector Richard Partis, of Bradford CID, said: “There will have been a lot of motorists around at this time of day on what is a busy road.

“A man we want to speak to in connection with the incident is described as white, in his early 20s, of medium build and very tall. He had a distinctive broad nose and puffed up and full lips.

“He was wearing a black zip up hooded top, with the hood up, with light grey coloured stripes running down either side of the hood, light grey coloured cotton tracksuit bottoms and shiny silver/grey trainers with a red Nike tick on the outer sides."

Any witnesses to the incident, between 2.30pm and 3.05pm last Tuesday are asked to call police on 101.
