Spen Valley Area Committee meets to discuss its Creative People and Places initiative on Thursday at Cleckheaton Town Hall.
The Arts Council England has commissioned a Kirklees Consortium, comprising Lawrence Batley Theatre (LBT), Batley Festival Group and the Council’s Creative Economy Team, to increase residents’ involvement with the arts, either as participants or audience members.
The £2.7 million programme, running until the end of 2016, will see more events, performances and exhibitions in the area. Support will be provided to amateur arts groups and professional artists and promoters.
Adele Poppleton, creative economy and VCS development manager for Kirklees Council, and Victoria Firth, chief executive of LBT, will make a presentation at the area committee.
