Students from Samuel Lister Academy are aiming for the moon this week as they take part in a regional competition to win a place at a UK rocket competition.
Throughout the week pupils are designing, building and launching rockets in the hope that they will gain a place at the final of the UK Aerospace Youth Rocketry Challenge this summer.
If the team from the school get through to the next stage they will compete with schools across the country.
Shipley MP Philip Davies said: “The Rocketry Challenge offers young people a real opportunity to test their mettle against the brightest and best engineering talent from all over the UK.
"I’m thrilled that students in Shipley are taking part and I really hope they win a chance to participate in the international final at Futures Day at the Farnborough International Airshow in July.”
