A spoonful of storytelling will be helping the medicine go down at Bradford Royal Infirmary later this month.

A nationwide storytelling tour will stop off at the hospital on Wednesday, March 26, to bring a big dose of fun and laughter to children on ward 17. The initiative is run by Starlight Children’s Foundation and Heinz The Starlight Storytellers will be singing and dancing along to a narrated collection of well-loved children’s stories for the young audience.

BRI lead play specialist Alison Kay said: “We use play to help distract poorly children from the pain and anxiety that they might be feeling as a result of their illness, but there’s nothing quite like a good story to capture children’s minds.”

During their nationwide tour, the storytellers will visit 50 hospitals and hospices altogether, thanks to funding from Heinz’s ‘Get Well’ Soup campaign.
