Young performers have triumphed at a recent festival, winning trophies in every section.
Youngsters from the DM Academy in Shipley entered the Robertshaw Speech and Drama Festival for the first time last weekend.
Charlotte Marsh won first place in the Poetry Year 6 section, and the Marion Davies Trophy; Alycia Booth came first in Bible Reading and Duologue Year 8, second in Prepared Reading and third in Poetry Years 7 and 8; Freddie Gill came second in Poetry Year 4; Elizabeth O’Dwyer was third in Poetry Year 4 and Leona McLaughlin came second in Poetry Year 9/10.
“All these children except Alycia were entering a speech and drama festival for the first time,” said DM Academy principal Deana Morgan. “As our speech and drama classes have only been running since January we are absolutely over the moon.”
