People paying their council tax by direct debit could be in with a chance of winning £12,000 and escaping their bills.

Bradford Council is taking part in a national campaign to encourage people to pay their bills by direct debit.

Anyone paying their council tax in this way by June 30 will be entered into a draw with the possibility of winning £12,000.

For each new bill being paid by direct debit, the Council will also donate 10p to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which this year is supporting Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure. The Big Break campaign is being run by BACS, which organises direct debits for companies across the world.

Martin Stubbs, assistant director of the Council’s revenues and benefits Service said: “It is the easiest way to pay, as all you have to do is set it up once and your bank does all the rest.”
