Older people were able to learn of the importance of communication during an open day.

The Welcome Project, which provides support to over-55s, organised the event at the Star Centre in Keighley Campus.

Eighty people of all ages saw demonstrations of communication through space using satellites. Visitors were also told about the new Artful Jammy Dodgers project, which allows Keighley people to create community radio programmes.

The Welcome Project outlined its activities, which help older people socialise.

Welcome Project spokesman Shona Grange said Artful Jammy Dodgers would particularly welcome people who were isolated, lonely, low in mood or lacked confidence.
