Businesses in Craven which are flouting no-smoking laws could be hit with a fine.
Environmental health officers at Craven Council are carrying out inspections across the district to ensure compliance with the ban.
Under the Health Act 2006, lighting up in smoke-free places is illegal and companies must ensure proper signage is displayed in such areas. Councillor Carl Lis said: “We need to make sure people remain aware of the law and obey it.” Call (01756) 706255 or e-mail environmentalhealth@cravendc.gov.uk for further information or to report smoking offences.
