Hundreds of items of toiletries will be given out to women in need across Bradford after a lunch in the city to mark International Women’s Day.
Guests at yesterday’s charity event at the Midland Hotel were asked to bring toiletries to be distributed to charities in Bradford that help women who have suffered from abuse or domestic violence.
Sandra Howard, who organised the event alongside Nora Whitham MBE, said: “Often these women are fleeing their homes, so just to have some toiletries sometimes can be nice.”
The lunch, which included a raffle, was attended by 55 women and one man, said Mrs Howard, including the Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Joanne Dodds.
Money raised from the event will be donated to Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure, via the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
