Legendary Bradford band Smokie (above) has been added to a celebrated American magazine's Hall of Fame.
The listing in Goldmine, which has been serving up news for music collectors since 1974, reads: “This entry may have most readers in the US scratching their heads while asking, ‘Who?’.
“Most readers across Europe will be scratching their heads while asking ‘Why?’ – as in ‘Why don’t listeners in the States know this band, which ranks as one of the world’s best sellers in singles and LPs?’.
“Such is the enigma of Smokie, whose only venture into US charts came way back in 1976 when Living Next Door To Alice climbed to number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.”
